Paddler Seeking Seat: V6 Iron 12km (Open Women or Open Mixed) – posted July 19th 2026

Kia orana, my name is Alison, and I am the Wahine Coach for TAZ (Team Arizona Outrigger). I am looking for a seat for one of our exceptional paddlers, Meagan Ross (35), in either the V6 Iron 12km Open Women or Open Mixed race. Out of the 14 women we are bringing over to race, Meagan is our only Open division paddler, which is why we are seeking a competitive crew for her to join! Meagan has been paddling with TAZ for the past four years. She is a strong, highly experienced paddler in both ocean and flat-water conditions and can comfortably fill any open seat from 1 to 6. It is worth noting that she is an experienced steerswoman; her excellent water-reading skills and deep understanding of canoe dynamics provide a massive advantage to any crew she joins. Meagan has raced and paddled in Hawaii and the West Coast of California. Her dedication to fitness aligns perfectly with the endurance demands of marathon racing. She trains consistently with our top crews, joins us for extra outrigger sessions, and cross-trains heavily at the gym and in the pool. She has an exceptional attitude and always gives 110%. In fact, Southern California crews frequently ask to borrow Meagan to fill their SCORA Open Women rosters. Beyond her physical strength and versatility, Meagan is an incredible teammate.

Lost female paddler 40+

Hi there I’m still relatively new to waka ama, but I have definitely caught the bug, and ready to try my next adventure! I’ve been dragon boating for years and race competitively at a national level. I’m a 44yo woman from the Wairarapa in New Zealand. I’m tall, fit, strong, and I love digging deep when things get tough. Giving up isn’t really in my nature and I love the long distance aspect of Waka racing. I’m definitely a competitive person and always want to do my best, but I’m just as keen to be part of a crew that’s supportive, has a good laugh, and enjoys being on the water together and to experience what this event is all about. I’m always happy to listen, learn, and fit in with whatever the crew needs. I can paddle in seats 2-5, with my usual seat being seat 3. Unfortunately I couldn’t get a full team together to enter in the event this year, so I’m now a lost paddler looking to join another crew. If you’ve got a spare seat for any of the races I’ve listed, I’d love the chance to jump in and paddle with you! Please reach out and im happy to have a chat to see if I’d be the right fit for your crew.
